James W. Murphy is a shareholder of Aaron, Riechert, Carpol & Riffle, APC where he has worked since 2006.
Mr. Murphy’s practice includes helping individuals in all aspects of estate planning from tax efficiency to advice regarding distributions. Mr. Murphy also works with individuals and corporate fiduciaries in all aspects of trust and probate administrations to carry out estate plans. This work involves areas such as legal compliance, tax planning, and litigated matters. The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization has certified Mr. Murphy as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law.
Mr. Murphy also helps individuals and businesses with tax issues of all types. And he advises on the formation and maintenance of all business forms.
Mr. Murphy received his Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation with Honors from Golden Gate University in 2010. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law in May 2006. He received the CALI Award for Excellence in Corporations, Evidence, Federal Income Tax, Property, and Remedies. He was a member of Law Review and the McAuliffe Honor Society. At the University of San Francisco, Mr. Murphy participated in the Investor Justice Project where he assisted small investors with limited incomes in NASD arbitrations.
Before law school, Mr. Murphy earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley in 2002.
Mr. Murphy lives in San Francisco with his wife and two little boys.
